International Youth Cinema workshop sponsore by the European Union in collaboration with Film i Värmland.

Värmland, Sweden - 24-25 February 2006 ; June16-26 2006.

For mentors from Romania, Hungary and Scandinavia, and youth filmmakers in dramatic, experimental and documentary forms.

Intro
- What is the link between Film and Democracy?

Brainstorming

Weaving Story

BASIC 1 - Movies Without Camera

To recognize, experience and separate the prime elements of cinema into layers to overlap: image, text, soundscape, dialogue, rhythm, foreground, background, focal length, frames. The workshop creates film scenes without camera, then chooses one to shoot for real.

2- Making a Scene (Writing withuot Writing)

This writing method is transparent and non-conflictual with conventional script-writing Big Names, such as Campbell, Mc Kee or Syd Field. Show your writer-Self new layers of possibiliy, free associaton, and problem re-solving. Write non-imitative scenes based on physicality, not verbosity. Then fine-tune them for rhythm, impact, comedy. Discover the power of your unique creative process. Become a more marketable, happier screenwriter.

3 - Cut Away (Editing)

Cutting found footage or your short film and make a finished film. How to re-write during the edit? Hear from a Cinemahead who has apprenticed with Walter Murch, editor of "Apocalypse Now" and "The Conversation". (FInal Cut Pro or better preferred.)

YOUTH CINEMA Lab

Cinemahead will run Youth Cinema Labs in coop with local organizatons. Participants develop story outlines, plan shoort and edit short films and media. This format is ideal for regional resource centers with the goal of nurturing the local digital film base.
